Nature is not a thing apart. The quality of our life is intertwined with the quality of life enjoyed by the plants and animals that share our habitat. In cities, the most artificial and hostile environments to nature, green space is precious. This blog is a record of my (nearly) daily experiences in my urban park, and my thoughts about the animals, plants and people I encounter.
Some days I am touched by beauty, awed by a wild encounter, or inspired by good neighbors I meet. Other days I am saddened and angered by ignorant and malicious people, who are also my neighbors. Worst are the days I encounter city workers engaged in “maintenance” activities that both cause environmental harm and waste taxpayer money.
Intelligent husbanding of our parks and natural areas, the thin green line, is not only possible, but necessary to promote biodiversity and harmony among all living creatures.
